How often should a Long Hair Chihuahua and a Pomeranian be groomed?

And what materials do you think are necessary for grooming?

What kind of brushes will I need?

I am planning to take my dogs to the groomers and the doggy spa. I'm not sure how often though. How often should a Long Hair Chihuahua and a Pomeranian be groomed?
Time between grooming is dependent upon the dog's individual coat, it's care, and the type of grooming that is done. Schedule a consultation with the groomer to go over your animals and decide on a coat care schedule. Most groomers recommend a grooming every 4 - 6 weeks and more often during shedding unless you are doing grooming at home.

For the Chi, you should be able to get by with a comb. For the Pomeranian, you'll want a pin brush, slicker, and comb. Ask your groomer how to make sure you are getting through the coat and 'line combing' to keep your Pom's coat in top condition between professional visits. How often should a Long Hair Chihuahua and a Pomeranian be groomed?
Ideally, any log coated dog should be groomed every day to keep the tangles, dirt etc at bay, and use it as a daily health check as well. It doesn't have to take long but it means you will also be able to develop a better bond with your pet in the process. A doggy spa??? No, I don't want to know ... it's your money!!!!
You don't need to take your dog to the groomers UNLESS it has huge matts that can't be brushed out painlessly.I think its a waste of money!

A good metal prong brush will do the trick, once a week for 5 or so mins is fine :)
