Why is it traditional that females have long hair and a males have short hair?

If i don't conform with these social rules, i quickly face prejudice followed by a ray of insults.Why is it traditional that females have long hair and a males have short hair?
I don't know. I wish it was the opposite.





Well long hair is very hard to manage and I guess I would assume that short hair is easy to manage and stays out of the way during work. Maybe since guys used to do all the manual labour, they needed hair to stay out of their face? And women stayed inside and raised children, and I guess long hair was more attractive to the ';hard-working'; men?

Open a history book, tell me what you notice about men like George Washington and men of the court. That wasn't always traditional and it more of a societal norm. Good thing we can change those norms. People will always find something to insult you for. Be happy with your hair any way you please.
during the stone age, when men sought a mate, they would club women senseless, and drag them back to a cave by their hair, a practice which has, lamentably, lost favor. now it is a matter of personal choice for women and men to wear their hair in whatever length and style they wish. that is, for all except those of us who have gone bald. for anyone who might be interested, i never threw my club away.
i hav no idea, but as a girl, i like long hair, bbut for guys-its has to be like sk8er boi long, not like super long like bret michales ( :
