How would you take care of a long hair guinea pig?

I have a guinea pig his name is scruffy he is black and grey. His hair touches the bottom of the floor for some reason every time I clean his cage there is patches of fur what should i do about this. I called my Aunt who worked in a vets office and she didn't really know help me.How would you take care of a long hair guinea pig?
Is he pulling the hair out from his underside or is it maybe air he is grooming out of his coat? Try brushing him and getting knots and such out. If the bottom of the cage is grated try using more shavings for him. Also if worse comes to worse you can trim his belly hairs. How would you take care of a long hair guinea pig?
I actually used to work at a zoo. There is nothing wrong with your guinea pig. The long haired kinda shed like CRAZY im sure youve noticed just by sitting with it in your lap your clothes are covered in hair. The only way you can really keep this from happining is with frequent brushing. But even then this will still happen all the time just not as much. The only other thing to do is shave it haha. But as for health, its fine.
give him a bath! i give my shorthair guinea pigs baths and they love it! about the patches see a vet, my guinea's are short hair and i havent experianced this, talk to someone that breeds or specialises in guinea pigs
I used to have several long haired guinea pigs. they shed A LOT. So brush them twice daily. about the patches, he might be chewing at his fur. Take him to a small animal vet.
well,shave him!(but not too much)
