How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?

I don't have unhealthy hair and I already have long hair that is really curly and strawberry blonde. However, are their any suggestions to keep my hair healthy and at it's best? I would really appreciate it.

Ps. Any shampoo suggestions?

Thanks. How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?
Nutrition is probably the single most important thing for you. As your hair gets longer, malnutrition in even the loosest sense can show up with split ends and otherwise undesirable qualities. As far as cleaning goes, shampoo is really only meant for the scalp, but you should definitely look into conditioner, which is directed toward the hair, to keep it healthy. How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?
I'm a hairdresser and my suggestion is to use a good salon shampoo and conditioner, and also every week do a conditioning treatment. A good salon brand is Redken Allsoft range, get shampoo, cond and the heavy cream. its great on curly hair. also have the ends trimmed every 6-8weeks to get rid of split ends.
Hmmmm.

I would use Ganier Fructis shampoo and conditioner for long hair. Comb your hair out in the shower when you have conditioner in. Use a wide-tooth comb. Hair is especially fragile when it's wet. If you brush it when you get out, it will rip and leave a lot of split ends.

When you get out, use Ganier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave-in conditioner on the bottom 6-7 inches, or all of your hair if it gets dry. It will provide moisture AND protect it from heat.

When you take your rubberbands out of your hair, unwind it. Don't slide it off. That also breaks your hair.

When your hair is dry, use V05 Detangle and Shine spray conditioner. It smells really good and leaves your hair really silky and smooth. It doesn't make it oily, unless you try to drown your hair with it or something. :]
Here is a post with some great advice on growing healthy hair;

Also

鈥?Do not brush hair when it is wet.

鈥?Go easy on the heat styling tools

鈥?Use a natural bristle hair brush

鈥?Use styling products that contain sunscreen

鈥?Get a trim every 4-6 weeks

Hope this helps!!

When you straighten it (if you do) use protection serum/spray. Same with blow drying. Use cold water at the end of your shower to get shine. (really works)

Sorry, don't have any shampoo recomendations.

xxxxxxxxxx
My favorite shampoo and conditioner for long curly hair is Biolage (sp?). You need to keep it from getting dried out, keep it out of the sun and don't use a blow dryer.
I've had long hair for 20 years and I love it! condition and use a leave in treatment I only wash my hair with shampoo three times a week but that doesn't mean I don't condition my hair during every shower I use all different kinds of brands suave is good then I go for something else just condition ,don't blow dry unless have to good luck
Brush your hair at least 100 strokes a day.

Play with it or have other people play with it..like a little pulling and just messing with it. It stimulates the follicules.

Drink LOTS of water

Pre natal vitamins work VERY well!!!!

Get the capsules filled with liquid vitamin E, poke a hole in 2 of them and put it in your conditioner

Every day when you wake up, get your finger tips and rub them around on your scalp in a circular motion for a couple minutes to stimulate the follicules. Do it before bed too..

I do all this and my hairs growing 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches a month :P

And cutting the dead ends off does NOTHING!!!

Your hair grows from your ROOTS not the ends of the hair!
um... dont wash too often, every second day is good to keep it healthy

i would ask your hairdresser about shampoos to keep it looking at its best
weelllll,

id suggest going to the hairdressers and getting your split ends cut off, cause they ruin the whole look.

you could try getting layers in or something as they make it look thicker and healthier,i reckon.

as for shampoo-anything by Swarzkopf or V05 is amazing.V05 do hot oil treatments which work really well.look for deep nourishing/conditioning hair masks and use them once a week.try to keep heat damage,e.g hair drying,to a minimum, but if you must, use a protection spray-i love Trevor Sorbie and Tresemme.

good luck [:
