Why do men almost always prefer long hair to short or even medium length?

i prefer shorter hair.. or longer it doesn't matter to me at all. as long as the girl doesn't have a mustacheWhy do men almost always prefer long hair to short or even medium length?
because it is sexy and short just looks lesbianish and ugly medium is ok but about halfway between ur elbow and shoulder is goodWhy do men almost always prefer long hair to short or even medium length?
I dunno.....maybe they think it's cool? I have short hair so i dont know.

You will see much more percentage of men with short hair this summer.

It's ussually during the winter when i grow mine out.
Ha ha, do you have to ask? Because long hair is sexy! Not all men prefer long hair, but I do!
short hair makes girls look like lesbians.

Medium and long is good
it's more feminine. makes girls look hotter too.

  • How can i train my cat stop sucking on my long hair at night?

Also she wants to play all the time which is great but not at 3 am, I dont want to lock her out of the room because she crys a lot she is only 2 months oldHow can i train my cat stop sucking on my long hair at night?
She's nursing. I mean, she knows there isn't any milk coming out, but she's going through the motions. How old was she when she was taken from her mother? A lot of cats that are taken too young (6 weeks or earlier) end up nursing on different things....sometimes for the rest of their lives.

As far as training her not to.... don't really know what you could do other than maybe spraying her with a bottle....but that obviously won't work if you're asleep.

You COULD try seeing if she'll ';nurse'; on something other than your hair. A friend of mine has a cat that nurses on a stuffed animal and a baby blanket. He has since he was a kitten. Maybe if she gets attached to something else, she'll leave your hair alone. How can i train my cat stop sucking on my long hair at night?
cat is not a smart animal.

Just slap its mouth or seal it with a tape
Keep your kitten out of your bed... GROSS! Do you really think they clean themselves directly after stepping out of the littler box? Think about what exactly is getting into your bed and hair!

My cat is never allowed into our bed! EVER! THe bedroom doors are always kept closed!

and as far as the sucking goes... my cat does that too. but he had the decency to do it to his own hind leg. I just learned myself that is is self comforting and they do it because it makes them calm and feel secure.

    Thanks TKO! Gross huh?
Obviously.. the little kitty was taken from its mommy tooooooo soon. It will pass in time.. You could wear a shower cap in the meantime if you wanted to to help the transition of the kitty to stop sucking
    Papeversomniferum is right!

Keep your cat out of your bed.
dip your hair in hot sauce.
I have this same problem. What I do is hide my hair under my pillow.
The kitten has what is called an ';oral compulsion';; it wants something in its mouth to give it a sense of comfort. (Sort of like when little kids suck their thumbs.) Cats do this when they have been removed from their mother too early in life.

Some cats grow out of their oral compulsions but some do not. If the cat can't suck on your hair, it may take to sucking on other items (like sweaters or towels). It depends on what's initiating the compulsion (i.e., how stressed your cat is and why it needs to soothe itself in such a way).

The shower cap idea was a good one, but you don't want to put anything peppery or otherwise ';stinging'; on your hair, because if your hair then got into your own mouth (or worse, your eyes), you'd be in misery.

If you're getting up every time the cat whines, that cat has got you well-trained. You need to stop letting it manipulate you with its crying, and take a leadership role. Leave the cat outside your bedroom at night. It may howl for a night, but will quickly learn that it cannot manipulate you that way, and it will stop.

What's the best shampoo and conditioner for really long hair?

I've been using Aussie 'Long' and Herbal essences and also simple, but I find my hair very dry especially at the ends...it also falls out a lot.

I use no heat appliances, not even a hair dryer and I get regular trims so I can't understand why it's so dry? Any tips to keep it beautiful? What's the best shampoo and conditioner for really long hair?
Hey there. The reason your hair is so dry could have to do with the climate of where you live, if the weather is cold and windy or if there's a lot of humidity it can really take it's toll on your hair.

Try using shampoos for dry hair that add moisture, if you like brands like Aussie try Aussie Moist or Herbal Essences Hello Hydration but I'd recommend Mane N Tail shampoo and conditioner over the rest for very long hair, it removes split ends and breakage to keep long hair growing. Still, I wouldn't recommend long hair shampoos for removing dryness as they're really meant to be used for split ends.

The best I've used for dry hair is Nexxus Therappe or Neutrogena Triple Moisture, try using a mask too, you leave it in your hair for 5-7 minutes or so, leave in some of the mask and towel dry it.

If all else fails try putting natural oils in your hair, that should do the trick. Still, the next time you get a cut, you might need a little more than just a trim. What's the best shampoo and conditioner for really long hair?
Rinse your hair with Rosemary Water, buy a rosemary leaves at a grocery store and put them in water and boil it and it should be like a greenish color after use the wqter to rinse your hair when you shower rosemary helps hair to not fall out so much. also you can use pantene Pro V Beautiful Lenghts its for long hair and to keep your long hair growing and so you wont get split ends. its a really good shampoo and conditioner.
Shampoo company's may say that their shampoo and conditioner is for people with long hair, but in reality there is no such thing. There isn't a shampoo and conditioner that will help long hair's needs. I learned this the hard way. /: I have reaallyy long hair too, and I use Organix nourishing Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner. I absolutely love it! it's made my hair so much softer, my hair isn't falling our as much, and it smells really good. Plus you can feel good about using because it's *mostly* organic. You can get it almost anywhere, I got mine at Rite Aid. Whatever you choose to use, good luck with it! (:
Try Aveeno Nourish. It does not have the stronger ingredients that other shampoos and conditioners do. Maybe you need a little more than a trim? Do you deep condtion now and then? That can help too.
I have found some good tips in following link, It may be good for you too

    http://www.beautifulhamesha.com/Herbal-H鈥?/a>
any shampoos with SLS in it is the problem. That ingredient drys out your hair and strips it of its natural oils.

What is the difference between a papillon and a long hair chihuahua?

I have a papillon who gets confused for a chihuahua mostly because of lack of hair around her ears like other papillons have. What is the difference between a papillon and a long hair chihuahua?
The Papillon is a small, friendly, elegant Toy dog of fine-boned structure, light, dainty and of lively action. Their body is slightly longer than their tail and their heads are small with a thick tapered muzzle. They are distinguished from other breeds by their beautiful ears. Papillons' ears can be either erect like butterfly wings (hence the name Papillon, which is French for butterfly) or dropped (Phalene, meaning night moth). The Papillon is very devoted to their masters, with a hearty spirit, making them desirable for show or companionship. Papillons hardy and usually long lived. They adapt to almost any climate and are comfortable in an apartment as well as the country. They make good travelers. They love to be with their family. They are friendly, happy and eager to please. The Papillon is excited, enthusiastic and eager to make new friends. They are playful and fun-loving. The Papillon ranks number one among Toy Dogs in obedience

    Height: 8 - 11 inches.

    Weight: 3 - 9 lbs.

The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world and was named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahuas are graceful, alert, swift-moving little dogs with a saucy expression. There are two distinct breed types, one with a long coat of soft texture, the other with a short coat. Identical otherwise, both can be whelped in the same litter. They have round apple-heads, large protruding eyes and a short, stout muzzle. Their bodies are slightly longer than they are tall, and ears are large and flaring. Although their bodies are fairly evenly-muscled, their bones are prone to injury due to their fragility. In the past they may have been considered rodents by their ancestral owners, who may have raised them for food! Now adored for their small size, the Chihuahua is a bright eyed, dainty dog who is perfect for apartment living. They do better with indoor living than outdoor living. Puppies are so small they can fit in your hand easily. Most breeders recommend adopting a Chihuahua puppy between the ages of 4 - 12 months as they will be more mature and agile and not so apt for injury

    Height: 6 - 9 inches.

    Weight: 1 - 6 lbs.

Long coat: Long, soft to touch, slight waviness is permissible. They have a lot of fringe and often have an undercoat. They have a large fringe on the neck and feathering on the tail, feet and legs. What is the difference between a papillon and a long hair chihuahua?
not much i don't believe. i was on a website one day and i think it said that a short hair and papillon were mixed to get the long haired. i could be wrong, its happened before, but i believe thats what it said. so that could be why they look so similar.
Well.. Chihuahua's and Papillions are two different breeds. Therefore, their personalities are different, and everything else..
I think people are getting your Pap confused with a Chi because they've never seen a long hair Chi and a Pap side by side. If you had both to walk, I bet everyone would see the difference.

I think it's easier to show the difference with pictures rather than quoting the standard. So, I found some pics to show the difference clearly. I used a sable long coat Chi and a sable Papillon that doesn't have fringe. Even without the fringe you can see the difference between the breeds:

I don't know the Chi breed standard, but this is the head of a top winning Chihuahua:

    http://www.mistymeadowschis.com/Paperino鈥?/a>

This is a really nice Papillon head. Even with no ear fringe, you can still clearly see the difference between a Pap and a Chi:

    http://www.aledapapillons.com/londyn01.j鈥?/a>

Also, this video shows a Chihuahua (early on) and a Papillon (after Dachsunds and before Poms)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9DPKsq17鈥?/a>

As you can see, the Chi has an apple or domed head and very short muzzle. The ears are much smaller and pointier. The Papillon has a more ';dog-like'; head where nothing is really exaggerated except the ears, which are big and rounded.

The body is also different. Chis are stockier. Papillons are taller but more refined (thinner) in bone.

Personality wise they are also very different. Papillons aren't lap dogs. They are sportier and are well suited for a more adventurous home. They love agility and training. The Papillon is really known for being very versatile and athletic.
They can look slightly similar, but they are a completely different breed.

    Long-haired chi: http://www.catbreedinfo.net/images/chihu鈥?/a>

    Papillon: http://www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-ga鈥?/a>
They do look rather similar. Papillons aren't as well known as long haired chihuahuas so most people will see one and mistake it for a chihuahua. Papillons are just slightly larger and have longer hair then a long haired chihuahua.
THey look similor but Papillions have more hair then long haired chihuahua, it doesnt matter, because both dogs are so cute!!!
Papillions usually have longer coats and are a little larger. I have 2 long coat Chi's and a lot of people think she is a Pap, but she is pure bred Chi. A lot of people don't seem to even know there are such things as long coat Chi's where I live.

How can i convince my friend to get his long hair cut shorter?

I have a close friend of mine ( a guy) who has not cut his hair since highschool grauation which was may 22, 1997.How can i convince my friend to get his long hair cut shorter?
I think guys with long hair look great! Sometimes men can grow their hair better than women. You sound a bit jealous. Leave him alone, he will cut it when he feels like it.How can i convince my friend to get his long hair cut shorter?
well if he gets the ladies it works for him hahaha if not, maybe he'll cut it before he turns 40
put some lice on his hair ;)
Invite him over for a sleep over and pull a sampson and delilah. in other words, chop it off while he is sleeping. *smiles deviously*
Tell him girls like guys who consistently update their look and take care of themselves. And that he probably looks like a hobo.
well maybe he likes his hair like that.Just leave him alone if he wants to cut it he will
itll take a long time, but u could use photoshop to change his hair. If he looks better, show him. if he looks sh*t, leave it and let him be a hippie.
    ew..

let him know that long hair COMPLETELY turns off women.

it makes guys look a LOT older than they really are.

    please, and do it soon.

How to get my parents to let me grow long hair?

Ok uhh im 15.. and I like long hair but my parents say i look horrible with it and that long hairs for girls so i have to get it cut.. i already tried chores and stuff and it doesent work for them, they im like a rebel cuz of my long hair or something and i already told them that im old enough to decide how i keep my hair for ymself and they say i have to have short hair until their dead..How to get my parents to let me grow long hair?
wait like how long of hair cuz if its like down 2 ur shoulders thats kinda creepy n gross looking n yeah that long is 4 girlsHow to get my parents to let me grow long hair?
Your Parents are being unreasonable, long hair is just a style. If you had long hair you would konw how much maintainence it takes to keep it looking good. I always wanted my hair long but I have crappy hair and it doesn't look good at any length. Your parents arguement about long hair is for girls is just plain stupid. Dresses are just for girls and they should not be allowed to wear pants. See how stupid that arguement is, same thing with hair.
wow, i had the same problem last month, now i can have longer hair, like over my ears.

You have to talk to them slowly, after dinner, at a good time when your parents are happy. Explain that you know the limits of long hair, and say you'll get a trim instead of a haircut. You have to let them know that you are not a child anymore. Also, let them know that you need a haircut, suggest one once in a while, and they will appreciate you trying to care for yourself. Don't always have long hair, and don't talk too much about it either.
I have no idea how you can get your parents to say yes. I know a lot of guys who have long hair and personally I think it looks really good on most of them. But just in case you should post a picture so we can determine if you should really have long hair in the first place.
I admit if you were dying your hair green and embarrasing the family thats one thing

But you arent there ';baby doll';. They need tolet you be the person you want a be (to an extent)

And hair is not one of those things I think they should mess with talk to them
when you go out go to the barbers and have it cut how you want it too then they cant stop you.

What products would you recommend for a male with long hair?

Just to make my hair look nice, what should I use? Any recommendations are good, I have long hair but have difficulty making it look nice, so I need some help. Essentially I want my hair to be sleek and shiny without looking like it's insanely greasy. What products would you recommend for a male with long hair?
Herbal Essences always makes my hair look super duper shiny, but i'm also a huge fan of Charles Worthington, the products protect my hair from ALL heat therefore also making it really soft and shiny. :) There are SO many different types out there which can make your hair sleek and shiny. Drinking lots of water is good for your hair also, a good diet, sleep, and giving it a break from hairdryer/straighteners/curling irons all make your hair sleeker and shinier! :) xWhat products would you recommend for a male with long hair?
sleek and shiny? im like 99% sure ur askin the right lady, lmfao :P i have long hair and i love the sleek and shiny look. heres what i do:

i wash my hair with any kind of shampoo and conditioner thats made for heat recovery or hair thats often exposed to heat (i used Tresamme thermal recovery shampoo and conditoner, or dove heat defense). then i let it air dry completely, and i spray on a little heat protectant (i use tresamme heat tamer..it protects and styles) and brush it through. after that, i straighten my hair and what do ya know! straight sleek and shiny hair without the grease! :P

if ur worried about using a hair straightener or think that might be too ';girly'; for u, dont be afraid :) Shane Dawson on youtube straightens his hair and doesnt have a single video under 1 million views and is like insanely popular. its really overlooked by the person he is in his videos. u have nothing to be worried about :D hope this helped!

Is it professional for a male teacher to have long hair?

I am an elementary school teacher in Texas and have hair hitting my shoulders at this point. I am planning to let it grow longer. I can put most of it up in a ponytail or leave it all down. I keep it clean, well groomed and trimmed. Is this just pushing the envelope or, just no big deal?Is it professional for a male teacher to have long hair?
I am also an elementary school teacher in Texas. I don't know where you are, but I'm in San Antonio where it is very diverse. I don't think it is unprofessional, but your principal might. If you act the part, dress the part and look well groomed, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. Just be yourself. Is it professional for a male teacher to have long hair?
If it's kept clean and well groomed like you said, then there's absolutely no problem with it at all. It would be considered a little extreme if it reached your lower back or anything, but shoulder length is fine.

The only unacceptable hairstyles for a teacher are ones that kind of influence children, such as mohawks, extreme spikes, dreadlocks, etc.
I don't see why hair length should matter for teachers, as long as it is kept neat. People who have a problem with it need to get a life.
    No big deeal. i'm tired of people saying ';hes a terrible person b/c he has long hair!';

What is the easiest way to get mats out of my dog's long hair?

He has really tight mats around the neck where his collar is, and the groomers want to shave him almost completely bald because of it. They said I can comb it out, but it will be really painful for him in that area. I figure I'll try to be as gentle as possible and give it a shot. What is the easiest way to get mats out of my dog's long hair?
Use a soft, natural bristle brush for long-haired cats and one with rounded steel bristles, set into a flexible rubber base for most dogs. The general rule is to buy longer bristles if your animal has long fur.

Hold your pet's skin above the direction you are brushing to keep loose skin from pulling with the brush and causing bruising. The bristles should slide along the surface of her skin smoothly. When you come to matted fur, gently brush the surface as the hairs untangle.

Dry your pet off before brushing. Trying to brush a wet animal is a disaster. Loose hair can come out and tangle around the bristles, clogging the brush and pulling instead of gliding. Allow a pet to dry and then brush his matted fur. You may comb conditioner through a wet dog's fur but do not pull on any mats. Be very gentle.

Cut out mats that are too close to the skin and too large to brush out. Sometimes a burr can work its way next to the skin and become hopelessly entangled before you find it. In longhaired cats, mats can form quickly. Using scissors, pull the mat away from the skin and carefully clip it in half. Keep the scissors at least 1/2 inch away from the surface of the skin.

Shave out mats that are too close to the skin to cut without risking injury to your pet.

Maintain your pet's fur by brushing every week, keeping mats from forming. Grooming is a pleasurable event when it is not painful. What is the easiest way to get mats out of my dog's long hair?
Let the groomer shave the mats out. The hair will grow back.
I have a yorkie that gets matted really badly because of her collars too. This is what I do. I bathe her with baby shampoo, and then with a conditioner or I spray hair detangler on her. While she is still in the tub, I got this special brush that totally pulls out het tangles. She never cries or fusses so it must not hurt her. The brush I got is called zoom groom. I got it at pet smart. The groomers there told me about it. Good luck
Massage the area with human hair conditioner and comb first with a wide toothed comb then a finer one. You will then have to wash off the conditioner but by this point there won't be much left. The other option is to buy mane detangler for horses, there is a lot of silicone in it and works a treat on dogs too. I would advise not leaving it to get this bad again as it is not an easy job.
Thats really cruel why don't you just try to shave him down it will do you and him a favor!!!
If the matting is down to the skin, they need to be shaved out. If you try to cut them out yourself, you risk cutting the dog.

You may be able to get the matts out using thinning shears, a slicker brush, and a comb.

A long coat requires a lot of work. Even if the mats have to be shaved off around the neck, remember that it's hair and it will grow back. To prevent this from happening again, you need to brush and comb the dog on a regular basis, paying extra attention to areas that are more prone to matting.

Combing out mats is painful for the dog. He may not let you do this.

You may also want to try a rolled leather collar as suggested, or if he is inside most of the time, only put the collar on for walks.
Having standard poodles, and having combed out my share of knots- I strongly advise you to PLEASE not put your dog through that, and let the groomer shave the dog down. Then, work harder to keep the dog from matting in the future. You can't do it ';gently';- it's not possible.

Please let the groomer shave your dog down, and then have him/her show you how to care for your dog's hair. One thing I would recommend is to use a rolled leather collar instead of a buckle collar- this will help keep the dog from matting around the neck- also make sure the dog isn't wearing the collar day in and day out- the less the dog wears the collar, the better-

Make sure the dog is not scratching due to fleas or allergies- scratching is another contributing factor to mats.
hi, my cockerspainel/sheepdog had really tight mates also(few years ago), i tried like crazy to brush her out, it was to painful for her. i took her to the groomers and to my surprise she actually did not get shaved almost bald. trust the groomer, it's just hair.
Honestly I think I would have to agree with the groomer on this. While his hair is growing back I would try to brush him at least once a week to keep it from happening again. Just think you'll be able to start fresh and the result will be much better.
Try using thinning shears. Snip the mat a couple of times with the thinning shears then brush with a slicker brush. Keep repeating the process until the mat falls out into the brush. DO NOT USE SCISSORS. You'll run the risk of cutting your dog.

Also the best collar to use for a dog with a lot of hair you should use a Rolled leather collar. That kind of collar will make it so the hair won't get matted around the neck.
ive always brushed mine right after a warm bath because then if you pull any hair out the pores are already stretched out so it wont pull at the skin as much causing less pain.

What's a good vacuum cleaner for someone with long hair?

My hair is always getting caught in the spinning brush thingie of my vacuum cleaner. It drives me nuts because I keep having to stop and get in their with scissors to deal with the tangles of matted hair and carpet lint. Please tell me there's a better kind out there? What's a good vacuum cleaner for someone with long hair?
look for a vacuum that has the option of turning the beater bar off. For example Panasonic vacuums.

Vacuum your floors first without the beater bar to pick up as much hair as possible than engage the beater bar and make another pass over the floors. What's a good vacuum cleaner for someone with long hair?
    roomba the robotic vacuum
rainbow is the best, but its about 3,000 dollars

best sloution is to bush your hair in same place every time and brush it a lot and collect the hair...long hair also bad for drain in shower and bath tub... good luck
My long hair sheds a lot, and I use a broom. A good broom is cheap, burns calories, and works as well as a vacuum. Also, it uses no electricity and never gets blocked or tangled up with hair.
Dyson is the best, but be prepared to spend over $500 for a new one.
I REALLY WANT TO RECOMMEND DYSON WHICH IS ABOUT 500 DOLLARS OR RAINBOW WHICH COSTS 3000 DOLLARS BUT IF YOU CANT AFFORD THIS WHY DONT YOU JUST USE A HAIRNET OR CUT YOUR HAIR OFF!
I had long hair most of my life. That's the downside is the vacuum cleaner issue. I have never found a way out of cutting the hair out of the beater bar. The best I can tell you is I just bought a Dyson and it ROCKS. The beater bar is easily accessible for removing hair wrapped up in it. They are pricey but it is by far the best one I have ever owned or used.

  • Can my male friend work at Fidelity Insurance with long hair?

His dad works there, and is trying to get him a job. Would he have to cut his long hair that he wears in a pony tail? Can my male friend work at Fidelity Insurance with long hair?
you can't take someone with a pony tail seriously. This is not a good thing when people are coming to you for insurance on their children. Can my male friend work at Fidelity Insurance with long hair?
Depends on what he's doing there. They won't make him cut his hair - but they're probably not going to offer him a salaried job, either. Hourly in the mail room, or doing janitorial . . . not a problem.

They won't make him cut his hair. But they won't offer him a choice position with long hair, either.
    This is NOT an insurance question. Post it under ';employment.';
why dont you ask his dad

I am sure it depends both on his position and location
Try the ';careers'; category. Most companies have dress codes. Universal Studios, AMC Theatres and Disneyland have some of the strictest.
He can work there, Fidelity isn't a captive company. He only needs to contract with them.
Some companies have a ';dress code'; which means they may specifically state what you must wear and what is considered not appropriate.

When you go for a job interview, they always state to dress nicely, even if the job does not require it. So that means nice dress pants, shirt, maybe a tie, clean shaven etc. If this company does not like men wearing pony tails, they could automatically not hire him unless he cuts his hair and they can do that.

I worked at one company that had what we call ';jeans friday';, so on friday could wear jeans. But the dress code was specific about wearing tennis shoes. I wore one day and my boss brought to my attention that it was not according to the dress code and put me on notice, so I never wore tennis shoes again. That is a situation that you could state tennis shoes not acceptable, but that was in the HR benefits that was not allowed.

Does your friend really want this job? If so, I suggest he cut it, otherwise, he may not have any chance of getting into this company.

    good luck

try out the hairlogic product line New productline that produces Results web info. www.hairlogicproducts.com
Pantene makes a shampoo/conditioner all-in-one for thick, long hair. Read the labels. The Pantene Detangler, contains conditioner, that is great to use after shampooing your hair. Blot your hair a bit, spray the Detangler in, %26amp; using a wide comb, comb it out to the ends twice.
You're in luck, I have the thickest hair ever and it goes all the way down my back. I use multiple brands of shampoo and conditioner. If you want the BEST you have to go to Sephora and get Ojon. They carry the best hair products especially for thick and long hair. They have special products for damaged hair that will keep your hair soft and silky. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. I hope this helps! P.S. drugstore products like Herbal Essences do not work well or specially at all. Unless you have a really really low budget that should be your last resort. I hope this helps!
Herbal Essence just came out with this new shampoo/conditioner called Long Term Relationship. It smells and makes your hair feel wonderful. I have long thick wavy blonde hair and it makes it feel so light and silky and it wont weigh your hair down or make it look dirty either. Try it out...its about $4 per bottle =)

Why do people feel such a need to pressure others to cut their long hair?

I get that some people prefer shorter hair or medium length over long or very long, that's their opinion. But why do people feel such a need to pressure others on what they do with their own appearance like long hair is some awful thing or someone is selfish to have it? It's their hair and their choice. If they want to donate it, that's great for them, but they shouldn't have to just like I shouldn't donate all my makeup just because I own it and others don't.

So why do you think they do it?Why do people feel such a need to pressure others to cut their long hair?
Great Question. If I was ever in that position I would first start by thanking them for their suggestion and say that I am happy with my hair so I rather not cut it. If they continue to insist I would stand firmer ground and say again that I appreciate their opinion but NO, I am not cutting my hair. If there is a 3rd time I would tell them that you are not changing your mind and if they continue to insist you will either ignore the question or leave.

Don't let anyone pressure you.. you have every right to do what you want with your body.

Now as always, every situation is different. If they are suggesting to cut your hair because you will benefit from it.. them heard them out. BUT bear in mind.. it's all about what you want and feel comfortable with .Why do people feel such a need to pressure others to cut their long hair?
I think that some people may be jealous of other people's long hair, and might just pressure them to donate to locks of love or something so they just cut it. I think it should be that person's choice whether they cut their hair or not, and I think that they shouldn't be pressured to cut their hair at all. I really loved my long hair, but it got too problematic, and kept knotting and I kept getting split ends, so I had to cut it. =(

Can anyone help me with this question?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

    ~MyClockworkHeart
I know exactly what you're talking about.. I used to have hair that was to my butt..

And EVERYONE was like, you really should cut your hair.

And I'm like, Ok, For one: why are you so concerned with my hair?

And for two: Do you know how long it took me to get my hair this long? lol.

But, I also go soo many compliments on how long and beautiful my hair was.

So, I don't know what some peoples problems are. lol.
I feel the same way u do. I believe that there just jealous. Oh well some people are just like that. U shouldnt give into peer pressure.
They're jealous they can't have your long, glorious hair. Just remember this line:

    ';Haters make me famous!';
First off I'm a hairstylist and salon owner. Hair is as much about emotion as it is about looks(sometimes more). It's how we feel with the hair more than how we look sometimes. To be honest my sister Twyla is over weight over 50 and has stringy long horrible looking hair, but she feels feminine with it. There are deeper issues at work here.

It really is an emotional thing, regardless to how horrible it looks. It's all about Twyla. It could be Vidal Sassoon himself telling her she needs to cut her hair and It wouldn't matter. It's crazy but as a stylist I get a new client that states, ';well, Robert I want a change';...them, I start to mention cutting, but then she cuts me off and says, ';oh, but I don't want you to cut much off my hair'; Well, there goes change OUT THE WINDOW. Hair color? You may ask. Well, if something like changing the cuts a problem then most times color would be completely out of the question.

It's a point of frustration for a professional and a client, but it's also a human thing. Some people have a hard time with change and can't handle it although in a way they desire it and know they may need it, but just can't get themselves to through with it. Life is about change but for many of these people (some do end up in the nut house) change doesn't happen due to some underlying dysfunction getting in the way.

I get some clients that say,';Well, Robert it has taken me so long to grow it out.'; Uh, okay! You let it grow out into what? NO STYLE? It's like some kind of burden she carries and for what? To look unattractive?

I'm a straight male hairstylist in Newport Beach Ca. Why would I do something to cause an uncomplimentary look on a client? It's my reputation and livelihood we are talking about here as well. I generally like long hair on women as a preference hey I'm a guy, but not if it's unattractive.

Older and over weight women just don't look good with long hair. It's not just a rule it's fact.

Sometimes it's cultural. Like Native Americans, some hispanic, indian and asian. Or sometimes it's just misinformation from over weight women that think for some reason it's slimming to have long straight hair running down their backs. Uh NO, it actually exposes the fat more by way of contrast! IT is though as being youthful for the older women out there. Uh NO, not if you are like over 50. Youthful yes, for perhaps those that are youthful!

I'm not trying to be mean just realistic.
There's nothing quite so depressing as hearing someone who once had beautiful long hair, but cut if short one day, and then goes on to say, with their short hair, how much they love long hair and miss it so much. Yet they will never grow it long again.

The pressure to donate is a form of moral blackmail where you are made to feel a bad person and will go to hell if you do not cut off your hair and hand it over. Locks of Love is a business which gets cheap hair to sell on. Most of it goes to celebrities and clubbers who do not have the patience ever to grow their own hair. Even the kids with cancer have to pay for it, unless they jump through endless hoops only a handful can.

Hair stylists also hate long, unspoilt hair - they call it boring or stringy or without style. By definition you do not get hair that way by going to the salon every few weeks. Their training is always to ';frame the face'; and do not understand anything longer than that. Their perfect haircut is something like scene, which looks rotten three days after it is done, so there is repeat business over and over. They say - go for choppy layers and side bangs and endless straightening or curling, and colouring and bleaching: the hair will be fried and split and will need redoing professionally week-in week-out. They say it is good to change change change, since with every change comes more business and more opportunity to create a mess that has to be put right professionally, or changed again.

The last thing are other women, especially those who have chosen to make themselves ugly. They cannot bear others to be more lovely than them, so they persuade them to go ugly too. Then they feel good about themselves. They want to get rid of every beautiful girl who might be unfair competition, and then hate men who choose to remain alone, rather than settle for one of these ugly sisters.

One good thing to come out of this are all those who have kept their beautiful long hair despite all the pressures. They are truly special and, in their rarity, my pleasure in knowing them is ever greater.

The other day, I encountered a woman aged 47 with long unspoilt hair like a curtain. She was beautiful and serene and I struggled believing she was over 30. To be over 50 with long hair is to be a timeless wonder where age no longer matters.

What are some cute yet easy ways to style long hair?

I love my hair, but I am bored with the same old hairstyles. I either straighten it all or leave it slightly wavy. My hair is too long and thick to curl it with a curling iron unless I have an extra hour. What are some cute yet easy ways to style long hair?
Hi I am a hairstylist , there are so many ways of doing it, first you can divide it in half, make a jagard part and put in in two ponytails up high, then take about a 1 in, peice, and smoothly wrap up the base of the tail and pin it securely, spray it w/some stiff spray do that on both sides or if you want do onley one pony tail and wrap the base , once its all secure, take peice of hair and twist until it wrinkles all the way up ,it will look like a snake or something pin all those squigles in one big bunch not to worie if peices stick out, thats the style Ill do those alot for proms they look so nice , also its realy easy to pu your hair up with some pretty chop sticks, and sooo easy!!!all you do is twist into a bun , get the stick insert it upwards then downwards, like you were weaving it, it will stay with some practice!!! sometimes I use a pen1 ha,but anyway realy try the chop sticks youll love it!!and also use products, and plenty of them. What are some cute yet easy ways to style long hair?
try a half ponytail. That usually looks good on long hair. a normal ponytail also looks good. Don't use the curling or straightening irons more than once every few weeks or they'll dry ur hair out and eventually damage it.
braid it into a french braid. or get someone to.
French braiding is easy once you get the hang of it and it looks great.

If you are not that ambitious just pull the sides back with barettes or combs.
try pinning it up with bobby pins in different ways the best part is to expeiriment
since you have thick hair (I'm green with envy) pull it up and make like twisty buns (me I have long wavy hair and only need two, but how ever many) but twist eachstrand around and around then when it starts wrapping itself in a bun just pull it and keep wrapping.. if you want you can leave it like that or keep it up for a little big and when you take it down it should be curly *not like do do curls* (as opposed to wavy) I get compliments when I do that.. then if it gets in my way, I just wrap it back up..
You could have a ponytail that is loose and comfortable, or let it flow. You could also curl your hair and leave it down. If you want it pulled back, then even a braid might work. Was this for a special occasion? If so, this answer probably isn't very helpful.

Well it seems to me that you may be the majority of the cleaning crew in your house, am i correct? If you are the only one doing the cleaning then obviously its going to build up on you. You cant do it alone. Arrange a chore chart. Make it fun if you have to. Alternate the chores between everyone who is able in the house. persuade them with something.. Everyone will be happy, you will have less to clean up and they get something in return. It will make things a lot easier on everyone. Its all about the teamwork. Hey they live there too ya know!!! Best of luck!
    use a vacuum cleaner!

How to tell if your long hair is healthy looking?

I have long hair, about to the middle of my back and I know that long hair does not look good at all if its unhealthy looking. So how can you tell that your hair is in good shape? Mine is really shiny and soft and I get the dead ends trimmed every couple months or so and its pretty thick. How to tell if your long hair is healthy looking?
As long it you know it is shiny and soft and your cutting your dead/split ends every so often then it is healthy. Do you get compliments? My hair is the same length and condition it sounds like and a lot of people compliment it so thats how I figure its healthy. Plus when I go to the salon they dont tell me to change shampoo or cleaning techniques or cut a ton off...How to tell if your long hair is healthy looking?
Hi Newport Beach stylist here. There is a trick I do to find out the point of damage. FIrst to take care of your hair. Start by doing your hair first as soon as you get into the shower, shampoo rinse good but prior to conditioning take out the excess moisture in your hair comb the conditioner through your hair then pen it up letting the conditioner set while you finish your shower then do a cold water rinse. After getting out of the shower use a wonderful detangler called Tri-Wheat leave in conditioner by Sex Hair (product line)

Ok, the trick. After blow drying your hair shack your head around real good then run your fingers towards the ends until your fingers start to catch. at the point of the catch is the point of damage to the hair.
It's not crunchy, but shiny and soft.

How can I can get long hair in a very short time?

I have prom in 2 weeks. I really really really want long hair! I have medium dark brown hair. Could hair extensions work for me? How much do they cost? What store could I find them in if any? If not, what could I do to get real looking long hair in such a short time? How can I can get long hair in a very short time?
Extensions are definitely the best idea and the price varies. For example I have friends who have paid 拢33 for theirs, this included clips and they looked amazing. I really want some as well, but got to pay for my own ):How can I can get long hair in a very short time?
Ya EXTENTIONS! OR you could go to your hairdresser and they could do an updew or extentions. For Prom, my bet would be NOT to get them at a cheap store or a store unless made for product.
You'd need hair extensions, Which you can get for anywhere between 250-400$

    They're only avalible in salons.
    extensions!!!!:)

I have long hair with many layers; how will I ensure that the hairdresser cuts all the split ends?

I have pretty long hair, down to my mid-lower back, and a couple inches beneath my bust. I have layers all around from every angle to lighten up the weight my hair for volume. I've been getting a lot of split ends lately because the long hair maintenance of tangles, then exposing it to about 400 F of flat iron heat daily.

When I go to the hairdresser, how will I be ensured that they get all the layers and not just the longest length?

Thank you.I have long hair with many layers; how will I ensure that the hairdresser cuts all the split ends?
ask for a trim, and tell her you want all the layers trimmed too, or you could ask for new layers, long ones if thats what your comfortable with, then they put new, fresh layers in. good luck!I have long hair with many layers; how will I ensure that the hairdresser cuts all the split ends?
I also always get layers, so I always wonder if they can cut the tips of the layers as well, to get the dead ends off. The best thing to do is to get your hair cut and also ask them to give you the same layers, they will get most of them, some maybe not. Hope I helped [:

no hair on the side my hair on top of the head
Do a mowhak like thing except no spikes, all the way down your head, then write one digit on one side and one digit on the other side of the hair.

Why did human beings evolve long hair on their head?

I can understand why many features have evolved in humans in order for them to survive. But why did human beings evolve the feature of having long hair on their head. Chimpanzees and gorillas didnt need it. And I see no need for it in humans. So why?Why did human beings evolve long hair on their head?
';Concerned'; makes an excellent point. I heard that theory as well. I've also heard it has something to do with sexual selection. There was a time in our ancestry, before the invention of the hair cut or salon, where we made a subconscious association between hair length and volume with longevity and health. A shiny, long-flowing mane usually meant that a person had darn good genes, and was associated with good health. So, natural selection probably went to work and men and women with longer hair got mates quicker until human beings started to get long hair as a whole species. Either one is plausible. Why did human beings evolve long hair on their head?
One problem with such questions is that we can never ';know'; why any given characteristic was selected for. Selection is inherently not a conscious process; it is an iterative, statistically driven one as devoid of thought or reasoning as the formation of icicles. Icicles are so regular and perfect that they must seem almost designed, yet we can watch one form in the course of a few hours.

Another problem is that there are actually multiple kinds of selection. As mentioned already, sexual selection can have as strong an effect on species traits as natural selection (retention of survival enhancing traits through iterative cycles of repetition ).

One frequently noted trait of the human species is that the ratio of penis length to body mass is much larger than nearly any other mammal. Similarly, birds of paradise and peacocks have such fantastically long feathers that it must almost certainly be a detriment to their survival, yet it has been demonstrated conclusively that the females absolutely favor mates with longer feathers. This could be, as also mentioned, that from a survival standpoint the possessor of such features has to overcome such inherent challenges that he (or she, as, for example, in the case of larger breasts) must be an otherwise genetically superior specimen to overcome this inherent impediment to survival. In the end we can only guess.
I read a theory that hair was a means of distinguishing between classes. People of higher social class had the time to groom (and grooming is seen in ';lower'; apes, like chimps). So good hair = health, vigour, wealth.

Pretty out there. But ultimately I'm confident we still have head hair because of *sexual selection* more so than other evolutionary forces like natural selection.

Bottom line is we really don't know.
I saw an interesting theory on that once. It suggested that there may have been a time when early humans spent most of their time in the water. Long hair would have floated on the surface, giving young children a handhold if they got separated from their parents and had to swim back to them.
humans lived in much colder climates, and since thermoregulation, and especially control of loss of heat through the scalp and neck, would be essential for survival in cold climates.
i'm going to side with ';runaway sexual selection';...you know, similar to how they explain why peacocks have long, bulky, but beautiful tail feathers.

Girl cut it that is not the style.

    Sorry
Tell your hairdresser to give you long, angular layers graduated from the cheekbone. It's a very versatile style that will let you put it up or leave it down and it'll look great no matter what!! Or you could find a pic online of a celebrity with the same length hair as you, and bring the picture to have it copied. Jessica Alba kind of has the same cut I'm talking about: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/entertainme鈥?/a>

    Good luck!!
Shave it straight down the middle and gel the two sides straight up.

    Great way to get attention!
Layers look awesome and give you more body.Just promise me something.....never put it in a ';messy ponytail';.That's just laziness.
You could do any style, ponytail, bun, etc. If it's cut straight across then I think layers would be better.
try choppy layers it looks really cute when you flip it out
    Layers are nice.

    A pony tail.

    A bun.

    French Braid.

    Twists.
i wud do long layers, and maybe a perm

How can I keep my long hair healthy?

I want to grow my hair long, for now my goal is to my lower back. Its about 22 and a half inches long and i need only eight more to get to my goal.

Will keeping it in a braid prevent breakage other things that might damage the hair?

No, I dont and never have dyed my hair. How can I keep my long hair healthy?
braiding it wont prevent damage unless its windy. just stay away from blow drying it and straighteners, things like that, which will break it off. also, use a paddle brush. Paddle brushes are flat and wide. They help in brushing long hair and for styling them. Brushing your hair with paddle brush also gives you a slight scalp massage, which helps stimulate hair growth. DONT use a rush with wire, you need something soft on your hair, that wont pull on any tangles. something like a brissle. How can I keep my long hair healthy?
Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water, don't wash everyday, about every 2-3 days, braid at night before bed, trim split ends regularly, or if you don't get splits, you should trim an inch to 2 inches every 6-8 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.
Well I know this sounds weird, but make sure to get it trimmed every month (Just the tips) to rid of the split ends. Ihave long hair down to the middle of my back.

I wash my hair with saloon products (Only baught at salons and Victoria Secret). Make sure to brush your hair softley to prevent breakage and also put redken ';glass' formula in it. It's amazing! But be sure to ask the girls a the salon how to use it and how much.

It makes your hair look like you just left the salon everytime!
yeah. I braid mine every night and it is fine in the morning
I have long hair too about the same length as you. So to keep mine healthy I put mayonaise in it. As weird as it sounds it keeps it healthy and shiny looking. Then when I get out the shower I put a leave in conditioner. If i straighten it or put heat on it i use a heat protectant spray. Then I take vitamins for hair and get my ends trimmed every 3 weeks.
Get ur hair trimmed every once in a while, so u don't get split ends. Also, wash ur hair and other stuff.
my hair is almost 1/2 way down my back. get a trim every 6- 12 weeks to snip off split end.

invest in a good quality brush that doesn't damage your hair.

use high quality shampoos and conditioners.

don't brush your hair when it's wet, if you must, start and the ends and work your way being gentle!! (preferably brush your hair well before washing it so you get all knots out)

eat lots of protein i.e. meat, chicken, fish, milk, cheese, yogurt, protein helps your hair grown.

take a high quality multiple vitamin and maybe an extra supplement of biotin. drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin, hair and body hydrated.

keep your hair in a pony tail as much as you can, i think braiding might be a bit damaging to the hair cause it is being twisted and pulled.

Brush your hair (with a high quality brush) often, this distributes oils so your hair is healthy and shiny.

avoid gels, sprays with alcohol since they are very drying to your hair.
well even if your trying to let your hair grow long, you should cuz about an inch a month to keep it growing and healthy
get it trimmed and deep conditioned about once a month wash it everyday and make sure it is always brushed

before you put any type of heat on it like a blow dreyer curling iron or flat iron ue heat rotection spray
Don't always make it on a braid because your hair gets into that form and then it damages it even more.... you should get some type of condisioner like Garnier or something else that is especially for long hair. Now since it is winter, you should use a protective sparay to prevent damage!
put oil in it overnight and braid it

    olive oil works great
take vitamins and make sure you use shampoo and conditioner with no alcohol.

Short or Long Hair? Does it make a difference when wanting to look professional?

I was told that in the business world it is best to have shorter hair. I have long hair and hate it short. I love to pull it back, etc. Is it true that getting a job or advancing may be affected by hair length?Short or Long Hair? Does it make a difference when wanting to look professional?
Whatever the length of your hair, as long as it is clean and cut in a style that is flattering to you, it's fine. With long hair you can pin it up in different ways and this will lend to your appearance. I don't know that length of hair in and of itself will affect your getting a job. It's more about how you present yourself.Short or Long Hair? Does it make a difference when wanting to look professional?
if you have long hair i have heard pull it back..because i guess having it down makes it look like your trying to impress too much and they don't want to see all the hair in your face...but as a girl i don't think it matters if its long or short, but with guys, shorter is better
Funny to have such kind of criteria in the business world. Just look pleasant everyday and your day will shine brighter and brighter. Be simple and at ease. That way they could feel you have your confidence with you and you're comfortable of anything with yourself.

I don't think it has to be one way or the other. I have long hair and I work in the business world. If it is managed and clean I would say either way is fine. Good Luck
I think with long hair pulling it back should be adequate - just as long as it is tame and not going everywhere.
It depends on the cut. I've seen some very professional longer cuts. I think having it too short is harsh.

On What Not To Wear they often leave womens hair fairly long for professional looks.
In all honesty, it depends on the corporate culture of the company you are interviewing for. I am in HR and can say as long as the persons apparence was neat and professional regardless of the position they were interviewing for, it did't matter to me. In a nutshell, LOOK PROFESSIONAL!

How does a girl with long hair spike it down?

I have long hair with multiple layers in it. It reaches my middle back, (Right below my bra line to be more specific). I see it often done with punk hair styles. I also have a short part on the top. What product do you use? About how long does it take? And how is it done? How does a girl with long hair spike it down?
OK,, I'm trying to understand what you're asking and if I understand it right, you are wanting to get the piece-y straight look.

Depending on your hair type, you can start with a gel, texturizer, or a mousse.

Blow dry your hair out straight with a flat brush.

Then, use a thermal activated hair product that holds, spray it on lightly, then take the chunk of hair you want to work with, use a flat iron and flatten it out straight. Then hold the strands in your hand and spray your hair with a strong hold hair spray.

This would be the easiest way to achieve the look on your own. There are some other tricks of the trade but try this first.

Also, ask your hairdresser when you go in next time. How does a girl with long hair spike it down?

How can i donate my long hair to make a wig for a caner patient?

Any information you'ld like to share would be appreciatedHow can i donate my long hair to make a wig for a caner patient?
I know you are being kind. But the truth is that hair loss from chemo treatment is a temporary condition. Most cancer patients find human hair wigs to be hot and uncomfortable. And because this is a short term condition most organizations that people donate their hair to . . do not make wigs for cancer patients.

Locks of love does not make wigs for children with short term hair loss.

Their wigs go to healthy children with long term hair loss who have alopecia areata which is NOT cancer.

Most cancer patients prefer hats, scarves, or fake wigs because they are more comfortable.

My wife gives hers to locks of Love. You can cut it and send in yourself or go to a participating salon. Usually a participating salon will cut it and send it in for free, but they just put a band in it and chop it off. If you send it in yourself check their site for the minimum length accepted.

You can curl it in spirals if you want. Start by putting some heat protectent on it. Then, using a curling iron, put about an inch of hair around the clamps about halfway up your hair. Twirl it but don't roll it up to your scalp. Just keep it there for a few seconds and then gently pull it out, opening and closing the clamp lightly (while your hair is still in there).

I really want to make really long hair for my sims, but I can't figure out how to. When I expand the length of that black %26amp; white photo for the outline of the hair, it doesn't let it show up in body shop. Please help! How do I make really long hair in sims body shop?
oh I've been working on sims body shop tooo!!!!! gahh lol sorry, ok im pretty sure that you have to do the same thing in the colored one too. but this is only a guess because i haven really tried to do that yet but it may acutually work because of the whole mesh/color thing. If u really want new hair though just go to www.xmsims.com for awesome downloads!! :)

I have very thick, straight, long hair; What is the best way to get my hair to hold a curl?

I would rather not use a ton of hair spray. I've used steam rollers before, and that works reasonably well, but the curls usually fall out after about 3 hours. Should I put gel on wet, clean hair and then use steam rollers?I have very thick, straight, long hair; What is the best way to get my hair to hold a curl?
Honey, For us both being blondes, its ';RARE'; for us to have thick hair, according to all of the Beautician's I've been too, anyway.. As for keeping a curl in your hair, at night, I usually put my hair in a twist, so it doesn't get all broken-up, while I'm sleeping, and in the A.Ms I'll take out the scrungy, and my hair will have the prettiest wavy curl to it....... But, for when I've curled it, I would just have a cup of warm water to just wet it a tad, and then put the curlers in, and VWALLAA!!!! Hopefully this will work for you too!! Try both ways, when I wrap my hair in the twist at nights, I just simply put my head upside down, and twist gentle in a spiral, until my hair becomes like in a bun, then put the scrungy on around it, and the next morning its all wavy and curly in some parts, its pretty cool, try that one too!!! Good Luck to you, and Merry Christmas, to you %26amp; yours!! Smile!!I have very thick, straight, long hair; What is the best way to get my hair to hold a curl?
straight hair is sexy....have some bangs , leave it that way...curly hair is gross
Use a lot a lot of hair spray with hot curlers that would solve your problem
after a shower put hair in a few braids. the less braids the looser waves/curls.

or curl your hair with a curler and while its around the curler.. put a little bbit of hairspray on it
your hair and scrunch it a few times until the gel holds it.
use setting lotions and flexible rollers it will set the curl and fluff your curls out.
wash ur hair.. towel dry it.. put mousse on ur hair.. use rollers.. heat using a hair dreyer.. DO NOT REMOVE ROLERS BEFORE UR HAIR IS COMPLETELY DRY.. then put a little hairspray
Don't worry i have long thick hair just like u and i put hairspray then use a curler
i am jealous....i want streight hair...i have curly hair.....u dont no how many people would want ur hair right now..........well , any way u can brush it when u get out of the shower, then drown it with gel or mouse.....twist ur hair while it dries ..u can hold it in place with clips.

or u can use a curler.......take a strand and spray it with hair sprey then use the curler........that way it stays longer if u put it in before.
Use aussie! That stuff worked for me and my hair is medium length but its so very thick! I'm positive it will work for you. Or else get a special shampoo for curly hair. You could also gel your hair and scrunch it a few times until the gel holds it. You don't need steam rollers with gel. I just scrunch mine and it's curly all day!
go to sally's hair and nail salon, sumthin like that, and find an 18'; long curler. its the color yellow. my hair is very thick too and i bought it. it holds really good!

How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?

I don't have unhealthy hair and I already have long hair that is really curly and strawberry blonde. However, are their any suggestions to keep my hair healthy and at it's best? I would really appreciate it.

    Ps. Any shampoo suggestions?

Thanks. How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?
Nutrition is probably the single most important thing for you. As your hair gets longer, malnutrition in even the loosest sense can show up with split ends and otherwise undesirable qualities. As far as cleaning goes, shampoo is really only meant for the scalp, but you should definitely look into conditioner, which is directed toward the hair, to keep it healthy. How do I get and maintain really healthy, long hair?
I'm a hairdresser and my suggestion is to use a good salon shampoo and conditioner, and also every week do a conditioning treatment. A good salon brand is Redken Allsoft range, get shampoo, cond and the heavy cream. its great on curly hair. also have the ends trimmed every 6-8weeks to get rid of split ends.
    Hmmmm.

I would use Ganier Fructis shampoo and conditioner for long hair. Comb your hair out in the shower when you have conditioner in. Use a wide-tooth comb. Hair is especially fragile when it's wet. If you brush it when you get out, it will rip and leave a lot of split ends.

When you get out, use Ganier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave-in conditioner on the bottom 6-7 inches, or all of your hair if it gets dry. It will provide moisture AND protect it from heat.

When you take your rubberbands out of your hair, unwind it. Don't slide it off. That also breaks your hair.

When your hair is dry, use V05 Detangle and Shine spray conditioner. It smells really good and leaves your hair really silky and smooth. It doesn't make it oily, unless you try to drown your hair with it or something. :]

When you straighten it (if you do) use protection serum/spray. Same with blow drying. Use cold water at the end of your shower to get shine. (really works)

Sorry, don't have any shampoo recomendations.

    xxxxxxxxxx
My favorite shampoo and conditioner for long curly hair is Biolage (sp?). You need to keep it from getting dried out, keep it out of the sun and don't use a blow dryer.
I've had long hair for 20 years and I love it! condition and use a leave in treatment I only wash my hair with shampoo three times a week but that doesn't mean I don't condition my hair during every shower I use all different kinds of brands suave is good then I go for something else just condition ,don't blow dry unless have to good luck
Brush your hair at least 100 strokes a day.

Play with it or have other people play with it..like a little pulling and just messing with it. It stimulates the follicules.

    Drink LOTS of water

Pre natal vitamins work VERY well!!!!

Get the capsules filled with liquid vitamin E, poke a hole in 2 of them and put it in your conditioner

Every day when you wake up, get your finger tips and rub them around on your scalp in a circular motion for a couple minutes to stimulate the follicules. Do it before bed too..

I do all this and my hairs growing 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches a month :P

And cutting the dead ends off does NOTHING!!!

Your hair grows from your ROOTS not the ends of the hair!
um... dont wash too often, every second day is good to keep it healthy

i would ask your hairdresser about shampoos to keep it looking at its best
    weelllll,

id suggest going to the hairdressers and getting your split ends cut off, cause they ruin the whole look.

you could try getting layers in or something as they make it look thicker and healthier,i reckon.

as for shampoo-anything by Swarzkopf or V05 is amazing.V05 do hot oil treatments which work really well.look for deep nourishing/conditioning hair masks and use them once a week.try to keep heat damage,e.g hair drying,to a minimum, but if you must, use a protection spray-i love Trevor Sorbie and Tresemme.

    good luck [:

How do u make a mohawk for super long hair withouut cutting it?

Ok so to the ppl who r gonna complain bout my grammar, im using my itouch so its hard. My hair isnt long its Super Looong lets say about 2 feet or more, it reaches my butt. I dont wanna cut my hait but i want to make a mohawk... How? U no like straight upHow do u make a mohawk for super long hair withouut cutting it?
Elmer's school glue works great. I have used it to get my hair to stick straight up and it's about as long as yours (reaches pockets of my jeans). It takes a while to dry, but it washes out very nicely. Be sure to use plenty, slick it straight up, press in a towel, and wait for it to dry. Make sure it doesn't stick to the towel, or you will have a frizzy mohawk. Keep in mind that this will NOT work if it gets wet. There are also some products like TIGI that give you extra color. How do u make a mohawk for super long hair withouut cutting it?
well you've gotta shave the the sides of your hair to make a true mohawk, like hair in the middle and bald on each side. if you just want a fohawk, then if you put a ton of gel in your hair, then straighten the hair with a flat iron straight upward, then wait for it to dry, i think it gives you a pretty good fohawk.

I have some clip-in hair extentions and i died my hair the same color as them too and you can always still totally tell my natural hair from the extentions. What should I do? some tips. How do you blend in hair extentions with long hair?

get your hair/the extension layered so that they gradually get longer and the longest parts of the extensions just look like another layer.

Is it considered, a somewhat hazard for female police officers to have long hair?

I'd just think it would get in the way if/when they get in physical confrontations and such with people when on duty. I've seen female cops with buzzed hair and others with ponytails or buns.

Are there any specific regulations on how they can have their hair? Can male cops only have short hair?Is it considered, a somewhat hazard for female police officers to have long hair?
There are probably many differences among various local and state agencies, but I'm not aware of any specific hair requirements for female federal special agents.

As someone formerly trained in martial arts, and trained as a defensive tactics instructor at a major metro PD and federally, I can tell you that if you are giving someone a handle that affords them control of your head, you are placing yourself at a major disadvantage.

Some PDs require clip-on ties so that officers so that a standard tie secured around the neck cannot be used to physically control an officer. But other agencies do not have such requirements. In the past, Sam Brown belts with a shoulder strap were common because they keep the heavy weapon from pulling down one's pants. But they fell out of favor because they provide a handle for controlling the body of the officer wearing it.

If I were a female officer, I would avoid placing myself at a disadvantage by having long hair. You will probably see many long-haired female officers across the country, and they may be able to complete their career without anyone ever touching their hair. As I understand it, only about 1% of officer/citizen contacts results in physical violence of some kind. And, only a fraction of those may place one in jeopardy of losing a fight because of long hair. But, it only takes one incident to ruin one鈥檚 life and or career. And the head and neck are extremely vulnerable. Is it considered, a somewhat hazard for female police officers to have long hair?
the worst hair for a female officer to have is a ponytail, i normally either see it really short or in a bun so it's less likely to get yanked.

male officers can not have long hair, ladies are allowed to because it's looked on as more natural for a woman to have long hair rather then a man.

also normally male police officers can not have facial hair (with the exception of mustache for some reason) unless they are undercover.
not a woman, but i would imagine that it can be a safety issue. my department has a regulation which states that no officer (male of female) can have hair worn past the shoulder. so the females usually tie it in a bun or tuck it inside hat. men can have long hair but must oblige by the same rule..hope this helps.
I have very long hair, goes all the way down my back. I keep it in a french braid, then up in a bun. First, it keeps it out of my way, second if someone grabs it it is not going to come loose all that easily. I know it could be an issue, but it is low on the totem poll...there are much worse things people could do to me than grab my hair in a scuffle.
Actually a buzz cut is the look these days,it is easy to take care of .It looks much more professional on the job.

What qualities do you associate with women with long hair vs. those with short?

I am thinking of cutting my long hair because people tell me I look young with long hair (Im 28) and Im thinking of changing it up.What qualities do you associate with women with long hair vs. those with short?
(healthy and well-kept) long hair: youthful, sexy, flirty, available, elegant, beautiful, willing to invest time in her appearance

Short hair: mature, sophisticated, taken/married, mom, practical

At 28, if you have very long hair (waist-length+) it's time to think about cutting it within the next few years. Shoulder-length to mid-back you can keep a while longer, but if you're ready for something short and easy, it may be time to get the chop. What qualities do you associate with women with long hair vs. those with short?
Short Hair = Sexy, Bitchy, Dominant, Kinky

Long Hair = Elegant, Beautiful, Kind %26amp; Caring
Do what ever you want with your hair, it is yours. I would not care how long or short her hair is, as long as she likes it. I even like them bald.

Is it normal for labrador retrievers to have long hair?

Almost everything I've read or seen about golden labs concludes that they have short hair, my dog has long hair...The hair on his tail is atleast 4 inches long. Is it just the golden retriever in him?Is it normal for labrador retrievers to have long hair?
I'm not sure what kind of dog you have.

There are 3 colors of lab: Black, Chocolate and Yellow as Abbyful mentioned.

The Golden Retriever is a different breed of dog altogether. Their coat is long all over.

May I ask where you got your dog?

Once I know that, I may be able to help you a little more..... A breeder? A shelter, friend? found him?

    EDIT:

Based on what you emailed me - you have a lab, golden retriever mix. There isn't a true name for them, he's just a great mixed breed but boy What a WONDERFUL mix! You couldn't ask for 2 nicer dogs if you were going to have an accidental breeding like this person did.

Your dog could end up with the coat characteristics of either of them! Since your pup is less than a year old, the adult coat may not be completely in. Sounds like your baby may end up looking more labby in the body and have a golden tail - longer hair there.

This could change a bit as he gets older - he may get a little longer coat. Labs blow (or shed their coats twice a year. In the Winter, your pup may get a more full coat.

The main thing is to just keep brushing him a couple times a week. That will help keep the shedding down.

The best thing is, the temperament of both breeds is wonderful so you should end up with just a great dog. Smart, easy to train, good with kids and just an all around great dog!

I wish you and your family the best!Is it normal for labrador retrievers to have long hair?
yes its the golden retreiver in him labs have short hair unless its a mix with a long haird breed
hello????? it is a MUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they come in every way shape %26amp; form!!! they have no breed standards!!!!!!
goldens and labs are 2 completly different breeds

goldens have long hair, labs have short...

if your dog is a mixed breed of golden and lab then yes its possible for the dog to take after the golden side and have long hair.

in which case if you spent a fortune on this dog as a ';golden lab'; you were scammed, if you bought this dog as a purebred you were scammed and if you bought this dog as a purebred lab you were scammed...labs have a short dense coat.
Are you that your lab is not got some mix init
There is no ';golden labrador'; breed. There are ';golden retrievers'; and ';labrador retrievers'; If by ';golden lab'; you mean a golden retriever and labrador retriever mix, the dog can take on characteristics from either breed.

    Golden retrievers have longer hair

Labrador retrieves (which come in yellow, black, and chocolate) have short hair

(There are other differences as well, you can look through the breed standards in the links given above to see what the differences between the breeds are.)

    .
there is no golden lab - your talking about a mix of breeds. a golden retriever has longer hair, and a lab has short. if you have a golden retriever and lab mix - chances are it will have longer hair
Is it a yellow Lab? or a mix with a Golden Retriever?

Labs have short, needle like hair - Goldens have longer hair.

Is your dog a mix? Do you have papers for him?

If he's a mix, his coat is liable to be any mixture of the two...
