My hair is closely similar to a surfer/skaters hair. I dont comb my hair foward when i get out of the shower damp my hair and then I leave my place. To better vsualize my hair it is barley over the tip of my ear.

There are tons of things you can do, and products you can use on your hair, to make it more manageable, and to look neat. As hair gets longer, it also gets more messy; it won't stay in place, it won't look neat for any length of time at all. You must do everything you can to keep it looking tidy.
I wore my hair in a ponytail once it was long enough, to keep it under control. Just leave it alone, use good products, keep it trimmed so it doesn't get ragged, and it will just grow. And it will only grow about half an inch a month.
