I have always had issues with vacuums because I've always had long hair that gets everywhere. I also live with two other long haired people and everytime we vacuum we have to clean the entire thing out...otherwise it makes weird noises and stops picking things up.
I've had expensive and inexpensive. I need something worth the money and that picks up hair!!!
Any suggestions? What is the best type of vacuum for people with long hair?
If you have long hair, don't get an upright! the hair will get on the brush and it hard to get off! Get a tank cleaner with out a turbo head, or one that can come off and use for later. I really like the Kenmore Magic Blue, it great for wood floors and goes a good job on the carpet. But whatever you get, Don't get an upright. your hair can be a big problem for you and the cleanerWhat is the best type of vacuum for people with long hair?
A cheap canister vacuum will be much easier to deal with than the uprights with roller brushes. You may have a problem finding one, but that would be your best bet.
Something else you might try is a carpet rake. A friend of mine had one that she used because her dog shed so much hair and it seemed to work. I don't know why it wouldn't work for your hair, too.
Two of us in my home have waist length hair, plus animals that shed. What works the best for us is to use the floor brush first then the beater bar, that is assuming you have these attachments.
Makes no difference whatsoever; Long hair is going to get wound around the vac brush and you have to cut it out of there. May just as well get a cheap vac and save yourself some money.
I was wondering what hair had to do with it. I thought you vacuumed your head! But , I have a very play full Border Collie,(she's full of it!) and I have yet to find a good vacuum. I also have long hair. I haven't tried Kirby yet, but then again, I don't have a thousand dollars to spend on a vacuum either. Bye
When you go to pick out a vacuum make sure that it has good suction and a good brush head, one that is removable it possible. But the cheapiest thing to do is to clean your brush on the vacuum every other time that you vacuum. Vacuum's are not junk just like that you need to clean them too just like empting the bag.
You can use like a utility knife to get the hair out or you can just use your hand to get the hair out of the brush head.
Also if you want their is a product that you sprinkle on your carpet for pet hair and that helps and makes the room smell nice.
Look for a vacuum with an inexpensive, easily replaceable brush rotor for the rotating floor attachment.
Vacuum twice, once without the rotating brush, then with it. Don't waste your money on very expensive vacuums, or ones with HEPA filters, but you do need a vacuum with more than minimum strength.
I don't have any specific suggestions about brands, but online shopping will give you more choices and more info about each vacuum. You might also check Consumer Reports for suggestions about this.
Solutions:
A. Shave your head
B. use a toilet wand to brush up the hair off of the carpet before you vacuum.
C. Hire someone else and their own vacuum to do it for you.
