Would it be best to get a toner in or have low lights to minimize re-growth and would this be as damaging as highlighting it?
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! How can I get my long hair healthy again?
I was in the same situation as you a few years ago - instead of sleek and silky, my hair looked like an unsightly bunch of straw. I was given Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner for christmas and I couldn't believe how it restored my hair - it was excellent and fully restored it back to the way it was. I FULLY recommend Paul Mitchell to you!How can I get my long hair healthy again?
Anything such as dying, straightening and blow drying (even once a week) can seriously dry out and damage your hair. If you are going to get low lights to get back your colour expect it to get drier. what i would do is ask where you get your hair died etc to recomend you on shampoos or hair treatments that will help rejuvinate your hair. this will be hard though because once your hair is past a certain stage from all the dying and low lighting and tonning you wont be able to reverse it. Your hair is dead protein, once u go really far its hard to get back

I had the same problem, my hair was health and down to my back. It then became shorter, i had split ends and my hair felt like straw.
I know this is a stupid question but are you using shampoo and conditioner for colored hair? I realize i wasn't and switch to Garnier Fructis Color Shield, it improved my hair so much.
I also did hot oil treatments which also help and i trimmed my hair every month to help with the split ends.
Now my hair is down to my back again, smooth and so health. My friends still don't believe its my hair and think i have a wig on. lol
So, trimmed your hair once a month, make sure your using the right shampoo and hot oil treatments really work.
Hope this helps....Good Luck!
All styling products and dyes damage your hair..
I have learned my lesson and went back to my natural colour after years of dying.. my hair was so unhealthy! i'm now just getting the shine back...
try avacado and olive oil- mix it in to a paste and leave it on your hair over night.. i use this once a week and it works wonders!
also mayonainse left on the hair over night is another good trick..
I would recommend getting a good cut first to take off all the dead ends and then refrain from using straightners etc..
Low lights actually make your hair healthier. It makes it more soft and it doesn't look dried out. It's not as damaging as highlighting, because your bleaching your hair, bleach contains very harsh chemicals, not like low-lights.
Hope I helped!

I had the same issue. Its horrible
Best solution: Try Keratin hair straightening health process. Low Lights.
Best decision I ever made. I did it on Thursday and I love the results. I honestly could not be happier.!!
you should go see a professional.
don't die it soo much i had the most fabulous black long hair and i did maroon highlights on it and it fell.. a lot
now it took me about 2 years to grow it and i had to cut it all off
i have it short up to my shoulder and it used to be all down my back
i regret it
eat a lot of vegetables
multi hair skin and nail vitamins
biotin
don't brush it a lot or over and over and use a blow drier soo much [leads to hair loss and split ends
put it up when you dont go out
make it into a bun or a braid when you go to sleep
use fruitics or bio products to gloss it
even ichi products
my aunt made me a shampoo and it helped my hair get soo soft, healthy and long [soo fast!!]
you need the plant aloe vera..[like $2]
a herbal shampoo
a empty gallon of milk
2 jalapeno peppers
honey
rosemary[to boil it]
3 cucumbers
peel the plant and cucumbers
mix them in the blender
boil the rosemary in a pot with water
mix peppers with plant and cucumbers
mix with the boiled rosemary
then filter the ingredients good enough so there is no chunks
add the shampoo
mis an put ina bottle or gallon
it works better whe you put it before you shower then scrub it in
its ok if its not so sudsy because the shampoo is what makes hair unhealthy and leads to hair loss
Think about the damage your hair has gone through this past year. At least for most of us, it鈥檚 been through hell; blow-drying, straightening, perms, coloring, etc鈥he list goes on and on. Every product we use on our hair also has damaging effects, and therefore leaves the hair dry, weak and brittle.
The best way to get your hair back on track to its natural, healthy form is to start from the beginning. Follow this routine religiously for about a month, and I guarantee your hair will be back to its natural shine, and it will be as healthy as ever.
Start off by chopping off those split ends. I know it鈥檚 hard to say goodbye to those few extra inches that make your hair look soooo much longer, but trust me, it鈥檒l be worth it in the end. Next, splurge on a good clarifying shampoo like Neutrogena. It will remove all the build up that鈥檚 been caused by all the other products.
Until your hair is back to its healthy state, try steering clear of any products such as mousse, hair spray, anti frizz, etc. Your hair needs a break. Also, it鈥檚 very important that you don鈥檛 use any chemicals on your hair. That means no perming or coloring.
This will be the hardest step of all, but very worth it. No blow-drying. No straightening. No curling. The heat puts major stress on your hair follicles, leaving them dry and brittle. Your hair needs to be left alone for a while and get hydrated again.
