Can a guy with long hair start his own business?

Or would it look unprofessional. Also can you give me any business ideas where long haired men wouldn't look weird as the owner. Can a guy with long hair start his own business?
Yes, anyone with long hair can start their own business. However, there are certain social stereotypes that associate long hair for business leaders in a negative light. Yet, these stereotypes can all be addressed by presenting oneself in a positive way. For example; a Chef with long hair could be perceived as dirty because they aren't properly shaved or they toss their long hair into the food they're making and aren't wearing the proper hair guards.

Chief Executive Officers (CEO's) can have any style of hair they choose as long as it suits the product specific target market they're in. A music industry mogul can obviously have long hair because they're socially expressive of the rock and roll culture, thus making them more in-tune with their demographic.

However, a USA Army General would most likely be socially unacceptable because the association of a not well-groomed, clean-cut Military personnel might associate themselves to lacking the strategic capabilities that are paramount in the field of Military tactics.

A 'guy with long hair' can start his own business and pwn the competition as well as any other Entrepreneur no matter the gender with long hair. Properly managing any situation can turn a negative problem into a positive solution. Ask yourself; ';Is my hair getting in the way of my business objectives?'; If it is then there is a problem and the solution may be a simple as cutting your hair or wearing a hat. It all depends on what market you choose to enter.

The market mechanism is more complex than a yes or a no and requires well-planned actions to meet the best possible solution. Can a guy with long hair start his own business?
Sure, if you own your own business, you can make the rules.

In general, though, Americans do still perceive long hair on men as ';unprofessional';. It seems to be more acceptable in service-oriented business, like automotive services, HVAC, home repair, things like that. And of course the ';alternative'; businesses like tattoo parlors, comic book stores, etc. But in all, your attitude and the way you treat the customers of your business will say a lot more about your integrity and professionalism than the length of your hair, so don't get too hung up on that. Good luck
Yes, there are businesses you can start which do not discriminate against looks, weight, religion, race, nationality etc.

Unfortunately people will always have their own preconceived ideas, and one of those is that a businessman must look professional. How absurd this may be this is the reality and will have an impact on the type of business you start.

I will recommend that you look at staring an internet or online business as with this type of business, the only thing that matter is your contribution and your effort. Remember the term internet geeks. Well there are a lot of internet ';Geeks'; making millions on the internet, but believe me once they are successful their appearances do not matter any more.

Just my thoughts.
What type of business are you interested in starting? If you have skills your hair won't be an issue. I own a small remodel business with my best friend and he has hair down to his shoulderblades (plus full sleeve tats). My boyfriend has hair down to his hips at 51 years old, owns a multi-employee landscape business, is one of three owners of a bar and plays in a local band. Neither of them have issues with running their businesses. My best friend, and our crew, does 95% of our jobs without me ever meeting our customers (I keep the books, order materials, etc., in addition to being a full time college student), his hair is always pulled back while on the job and he keeps it looking neat. My boyfriend either puts his hair in a ponytail, I braid it, or he wears a cap to keep it out of his face while working and there has not been issue with him either.

Don't base your business choices on your hair, base them on interest and skill. Be well groomed and your hair will not be that big an issue.
Just about any job that a guy with short can do, a guy with long can do also.

It might look unprofessional if it looked like you had a couple of cats fighting in it, so do try to keep it well groomed!
It would be unprofessional to cut your hair.

That would show that you are vain, and that you care about what other's think of your looks, more than what people think of your work or business.
Plenty of top businessmen have long hair. For example, Richard Branson.
