Why is Jesus pictured with long hair but the bible contradicts men with long hair?

Corinthians 11:14

Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. 16If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

Why does Jesus get long hair, but all other men are disgraced. Why is Jesus pictured with long hair but the bible contradicts men with long hair?
double Standard. if god does it, means man can't.Why is Jesus pictured with long hair but the bible contradicts men with long hair?
men who were a Nazarite and lived in a city of Nazareth had vows where they could never cut their hair or drink wine or strong drink.

Jdg 13:3 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

Jdg 13:4 Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

Jdg 13:5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
The image of Christ with long hair, comes from the emergence of the Shroud of Turin. Before this ';Discovery'; all paintings and tapestries depicting Christ, showed him having closely cropped hair. The shroud has been fully discredited by many professionals, and has been recreated in the past few years. Many believe that DaVinci was the one to have created the shroud using a optica obscurer, white linen, and silver nitrate. Thou shalt make no graven image before the Lord your God. DaVinci was a well known hater of Christianity.
the only thing that comes to mind against long hair is David's son being chased and his hair catching up in the tree branch, plucked him right off his horse and he got tangled up and died.

I don't know. I also think it's a common fashion in that day, so I'd have to look at that passage in context and I don't have my Bible with me right now
Does it really matter? Most of the illustrations of Jesus show him as being a white man, sometimes blonde too. Clearly given where he was born that is not possible. I think you will find that as no-one knows what he looked like, artists will draw inspiration by what they see, what they expect and previous depictions.
It had to do with taking the vow of the nazarite. My guess is that he would have only had long hair during the period of his vow. He would not have been a nazarite and had long hair at the 'last supper' though since a Nazarite could not drink wine or any grape juice products.
Man made pictures of Jesus, The bible says the color of his skin and the texture of his hair, but very few pictures that is sold in stores show him looking the way the book describes
Where in the Bible did Jesus ever conform to the ';norms'; of the day? He did what he wanted. In today's standards, he would have been a liberal. Besides, Corinthians was written by Paul. Why would Jesus obey Paul?
Clearly, what the artists who paint Jesus with ';long hair'; consider to be ';long hair'; differs from what YOU consider to be ';long hair';.

Jim, http://www.bible-reviews.com
The bible is written by many men.

Ones were apostolates ; others were morons who heard from other morons who heard from apostolates
Like most Liberals you dont know the scriptures . Jesus was a Nazarite like Samson . The Nazarite vow prohibited him from cutting his hair.
because Christianity came to Europe in the Middle Ages when most men had long hair, in Fact Jesus actually had short curly hair
It's talking about the NATURE of things. Women typically have long hair, and men usually lose their hair. What's your argument now?
Worry less about the details of your adopted delusion and more about why you fall for the delusion in the first place.
I dont' know.

Why is Jesus most often portrayed in paintings as a white hippy when most of the fundies absolutely hate hippies?
The Bible isn't illustrated and there are no specifics as to the length referred to. Silly question.
lol That book is hilarious.
Since no one knows what Jesus looked like-this question is irrelevant!
THAT is how and why they executed Him...

They hung Him on the Cross by His long hair!
Is it really a big deal if he was a shame to himself?
That book is crap.
We don't know what Jesus looked like, we just know that the artist portrayed him with long hair. 1 Corinthians wasn't written until after Christ had died either.
Jesus was a Jew, so maybe he had a Jewfro.
