How to keep my long hair moisturised and healthy?

I am growing my hair really long %26amp; it tends to get dry (especially the ends). Do you have any tips on how to keep it super healthy? How to keep my long hair moisturised and healthy?
Try not to blow dry or use heated curling or straigtening irons, if you can, and if you can get away with it, only wash it every other day or every third day. The following also moisturize really well: 1. Regular mayonnaise (yes, the condiment!)...it is made of eggs and oil, both really good for hair. Once a week or so, slather it on your hair before bed, put your hair up in a shower cap, and put a towel on your pillow (just in case), and wash it out in the morning. I know it sounds gross, but it really really works! 2. A product called ';Cholestrol'; by Queen Helene. It is made for dryer hair types (usually found in the section with African American hair products)...you can follow the directions on the jar, or do the same thing as I noted above with the mayonnaise, and wash it out in the morning. Both of these things really soften and moisturize and give your hair a gleam. How to keep my long hair moisturised and healthy?
Ok I have long hair and yes it can get really dry and fizzed on the ends.. A few things to do..

When you wash your hair and you massage in good quality Conditioner, rinse all out after leaving in for a few minutes I find that if I wash my hair and place the conditioner all over, I would then wash all over and what ever else like shaving legs and under arms..:) then Rinse.. I would also about once a month do a leave in session where I would towel dry my hair after washing and massage the conditioner through, and wrap my hair in cling wrap{glad wrap} and leave it in for the whole day, then wash out, and style as normal. You could also buy products from your local supermarket anything that will add moisture to your ends will help. Never place the product close to the scalp as this will only make you hair greasy and you don't want the greasy look...

Also here is an extra tip, if you have to go out in a hurry and you don't have time to wash your hair and it does look greasy, just grab your everyday talcom powder and lightly sprinkle the powder on your hair and shake your head and lightly brush your hair and its no longer greasy..:) but don't add to much, or else you will be grey....lol
beer (on the head) every couple of weeks. In case you haven't heard this before-it's not a joke (and it is cheap).
You should get a trim...just about an inch or so. It really does help. I'm growing my hair long too. I use a deep conditioner once a week, and a daily conditioner every other day. Also, have a couple on hand so you don't use the same one every other week.
Try conditioning from the midshaft to the ends first. Then go ahead and condition again on the whole head. this puts a little more moisture at the end of your hair where it tends to dry out faster. Beer works but why waste it? That's alcohol abuse :~). Good luck.
mayonaise is the cheapest and easiest to make your hair shine and sparkle - just a word of caution, though - I usually put it on my dry hair, put on a shower cap, and wrap it in a hot towel - leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour and then shampoo it and style as normal - however, I still feel like I can smell the mayo after it's been washed - I usually do this on a Friday or Saturday nite if I have no plans - that way I have a day or two to make sure it is all out....it will REALLY condition your hair, too - if you want to style it at all, probably not a good idea to try it right after doing this!
I use Cabellina Cabello Shampoo and Conditioner. I live in So Cal and the air here is dry so my long hair used to be really dry and the ends split and cracked a lot. I used V05, Panteen, everything to try to make it stronger. It helped a little, but this horse shampoo is what really did the trick. It smells good, made my hair really soft and shiny and keeps it moisturised and strong and healthy. It's cheap and comes in quart bottles. If you don't live in So Cal, try http://www.grandall.com/ to order some. If you do live in So Cal, Wal Mart carries it.
A leave-in conditioner will really help
I used to have long hair till last month and my hair is thick so i had some problems too. You can put a mix of vinegar and water to your hair and wash your hair after it, that makes it look shiny and healthy. And , well, use hair conditioner, don't use too much though you might lose your hair if you do.
